The attacker was said to be heavily disappointed that the Jersey number was not made available when Jack Wilshere joined AFC Bournemouth on loan last season.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing Mesut Ozil and could make an offer in the new year to avoid a rush next summer.
