United chief ready to spend mega-money on Ajax youngster

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is now desperate to spend a mega-money deal for Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt.

The Red Devils seem to have realized the need to strengthen their squad knowing that the league has gone more competitive than expected as they battle to break into the top four so as to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Former manager Jose Mourinho had cried out severally on the need for quality defenders in the Red Devils team and it was expected that he would storm the January window for defensive buys should he remained at the club as the boss.

North withstanding, the Old Trafford side have now realised this fact and they are now ready to spend the money on the Ajax defender who could be available in this winter transfer window for the right price.

New interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will therefore have the responsibility of pointing to suitors for the club to approach as he seems to be gaining the trust of the owners having won all of the games so far under his reign.

However, Matthijs de Ligt has impressed so far this season having and he is expected to be a big buy for the Red Devils should he agree on a switch.
