Humble Ozil makes own claim of Dennis Bergkamp’s comparison

Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil holds club legend, Dennis Bergkamp in high esteem; hence he does not want to be compared with him.

The German player who is gradually winning back, the heart of the Gunners fans made his 200th appearance for Arsenal more colourful with the winning goal against Newcastle on Saturday.

Ozil currently remains the highest paid player in the history of Arsenal after signing a three-and-a-half year contract in January, a development that has made the club demand better performance from him. Kudos to him for meeting up to their expectation.

His performance and unique style has made people compare him to the Dutch legend Bergkamp, but Ozil said he will not want to accept that.

The 29-year-old appreciates the fact that he is being backed liked and supported by the fans but he said he will not accept their comparison of Bergkamp.

Admitting that he is being flattered by their gesture, Ozil said he has his own style and pattern of play which is different from others.

Ozil said he likes to control the game and give assists to help his team score goals and win games. That is all that matters to him.

He, however, urged Arsenal fans to look forward to more of him adding that he still has a lot to offer.
