Good News: Chelsea Striker To Stay For Next Season

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will stay at the club for at least one season according to French media outlet Telefoot.

French World Cup winner Giroud has previously talked about his desire to get more playing time at another club but he’s now expected to stay at Stamford Bridge for another season.

Telefoot confirmed the news via their official Twitter handle on Sunday.

It was revealed that Giroud will stay at Chelsea despite the fact that he has been linked with a return to France.

French Ligue 1 sides like Nice, Lyon and Marseille have all been linked with Giroud who has few weeks left on his Chelsea contract.

The Blues have decided to activate the extra year clause in the contract that he signed when he became a Chelsea player in January 2018.

Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal during last year’s winter transfer window.

He signed an 18-month deal until this summer.

The Frenchman has complained about a lack of playing time on several occasions.

He has scored 10 goals for Chelsea in the Europa League this season thus making him the joint leading goalscorer in the competition alongside Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic.

Giroud has the opportunity to add to his tally when Chelsea face his former club Arsenal in the Europa League final later this month.
