Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has unwrapped how a group of Liverpool fans helped to convince the centre-half that a transfer to Anfield Stadium was the right decision for the Dutchman.

The Netherlands international defender joined Liverpool in the winter transfer window from Premier League side Southampton after having been linked with a transfer to Anfield Stadium throughout the summer last year.
The Centre-half has settled down quickly into life at Merseyside and has been praised severally for his solid displays for Liverpool since the switch.
He was linked with a couple of clubs throughout the summer last year, including Liverpool League rivals Chelsea.

However, the defender has now disclosed that the influence of Reds fans helped to convince him that a transfer to Liverpool was a decent idea after he attended the UEFA Champions League final between La Liga giants Real Madrid and Serie A champions Juventus in Cardiff last year.
Van Dijk is cited as saying by Metro he never really go to big matches to watch as a supporter but said he was in Cardiff. He confirmed the sponsors hooked him up with seats and the venue was two hours from where he used to live so himself and his friends decided to go.
The Reds will now be linked with a number of other players this summer window as German tactician Jurgen Klopp looks to build a squad capable of winning the English Premier League title next campaign.
