Everton are preparing a shock move for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, according to reports.
The 21-year-old arrived at the Emirates for a whopping sum of £16million from Southampton due to his promising displays and was regarded as one of the best youngsters in the Premier League.
However, the English defender has struggled to impress under Arsene Wenger, despite given the opportunity to play at the central defence and right-back position which prompted the Gunners to ship him out on loan to Middlesbrough last summer where he spent the whole season.
Everton have made their intentions clear in this transfer window, by signing two players in the early days to show promising signs of a fruitful window ahead and they are believed to be in search of a centre-back.
Reports in the Daily Mail have it that the Toffees are considering a move for Michael Keane but are also making Chambers as an alternative in case they fail in their attempt to sign Keane who has set his sights on returning to Manchester United.
It is understood that Arsenal are unlikely to give Chambers another opportunity this season and will be offloading him permanently after failing to impress at the Emirates and will be looking to sell for a fee around £15million.
