Chelsea Line Up Bid For Terry’s Potential Replacement

Chelsea have reportedly lined up a January move for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.

Reliable reports at the Stamford Bridge have it that the Blues are exploring the options to replace John Terry with the Boro defender if he leaves the club.

Following suggestions that the 36-year-old defender will leave the club due to his lack of action with the Blues and could be set for an exit after the arrival of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

However, reports in the Mirror have it that Terry wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and win the Premier League before leaving the club.

It is understood that Antonio Conte sees Gibson as a perfect replacement for the veteran defender if he decides to leave.

Prior reports claim that Chelsea already had a bid rejected for the England international with reports of £30million fee in the offing for the Boro man.

Middlesbrough are keen on not letting go of their man in the January transfer window as they hope to avoid relegation this season.

Chelsea are said to be considering other viable other in a bid to bolster their squad and create cover for positions despite leading the Premier League table at the expense of their rivals in the first half of the season.
