Chelsea Join Liverpool In €120m Teenager Chase

London club Chelsea are the latest club to register an interest in highly rated Benfica youngster Joao Felix according to reports in the British media.

Chelsea have joined Liverpool and other interested clubs in the race to sign the Portuguese junior international as reported by German newspaper Sport Bild.

German Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and German champions Bayern Munich have also been monitoring the teenager.

Joao Felix, 19, recently signed a new contract at Benfica with a release clause of €120m (£105m).

Earlier reports had revealed that Merseyside giants Liverpool had a big bid rejected for the attacking midfielder.

The Reds were rebuffed in their quest to sign the young player for around £65m with Benfica adamant that Joao Felix will be sold on one condition and that’s if his release clause is met.

Manchester United stepped up their interest in the player when scouts were sent to run the rule over him while he was in action for Benfica in their League game against Boavista.

Joao Felix showed why the biggest clubs on the European stage are after his signature.

He scored one goal and provided two assists to lead his Benfica side to a 5-1 win over lowly Boavista in their league clash.
