Chelsea Improve Bid For Midfielder’s Signature: Conte Is Desperate To Get Him

Chelsea are keen on signing Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater before the end of the transfer window. And despite that Danny’s club have rejected Chelsea’s initial £15M bid, there are new reports that the premier league champions are set to make a second bid to bring the Englishman to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea could now be presenting something over £25M for the midfielder, even though there were reports that Leicester wants as much as £40M for him.

The England international is currently nursing an injury and couldn’t feature for the foxes in their premier league opening-day 4-3 defeat to Arsenal on Friday night at the Emirates Stadium.

Drinkwater has been identified as a nice replacement for departed Nemanja Matic, and he is understood to be interested in coming over to Chelsea despite that he will likely be behind the likes of N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Danny has however proved his worth in his time at the King Power Stadium, and he formed a strong partnership with N’Golo Kante in the center of the park to help the Fixes win the premier league trophy during the 2015/16 campaign.

And the Daily Telegraph are reporting that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is pressing for his side to go back in for the 27-year-old with an improved offer.

Chelsea will clash with Burnley at Stamford Bridge for their premier league opening-game on Saturday.
