Arsenal Legend Praises Gunners Star Iwobi Following UCL Strike

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has showered praises on Nigerian international and Gunners’ star Alex Iwobi after he netted in the 4-1 demolition of Swiss champions FC Basel on Tuesday night in what was their final group game in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Speaking to BT Sport on his former club, Wright praised the impact of the 20-year old midfielder adding that his first goal in all competitions would do him a whole lot of good. In his words, he said:
“That’s what I think he needs. I think he’s got everything.”

“It was good that Arsene Wenger eased him out of the team for a bit, because he started to get a little bit stale with what he was doing.

“I think this goal will pep him up. He really did celebrate it with gusto – he was very pleased.” Wright, who won the 1997/98 English Premier League title and was the former highest goalscorer at the club before Frenchman Thierry Henry concluded.

Alex Iwobi has impressed in the colours of Arsenal since he broke into the team last season with mind blowing performances for Arsene Wenger’s side and his appearance against FC Basel on Tuesday was his 18th already in all competition this season to further underline his importance to the North London side.
