Liverpool would have missed out on Mane, United came knocking

English Premier League outfit Liverpool would have lost out in the signature of Senegal International Sadio Mane, going by latest revelation.

The Senegal International had told The Mirror that Man United came looking for him at Southampton but a deal failed to walk through.

It would be recalled that Sadio Mane joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £34 million and has become a very important member of the team.

The former Southampton star was a joint winner of the Golden Boot for English Premier League after scoring 22 goals alongside Egypt International Mohamed Salah and Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The star winger revealed that he has already held talks with the former Man United manager Lous Van Gaal and a deal was supposed to fall through but a call from manager Jurgen Klopp was enough to change his mind for a move to the Merseyside.

However, Sadio Mane is now a subject of interest from Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid as they are keen to land him for coming season but it is unclear if the red’s will to release the former Southampton winger.
