Chelsea Midfielder Charged With Drunk Driving

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been charged with drunk driving and he’s set to appear before a judge in May as a result.

The Blues player was charged by the British police after he was involved in a car accident in the early hours of Monday while he was returning from an event.

The 29-year-old was coming from a charity event in an upmarket bar known as Victors when he crashed into another car thereby leaving him and two others with minor injuries.

Danny Drinkwater is now expected to appear at the Magistrates Court in Stockport on May 13.

The England international player has been on the fringes of the first team at Chelsea since Maurizio Sarri took over as the Blues manager last summer.

His sole appearance under Sarri came in the Community Shield clash with Manchester City in August as the Citizens ran out 2-0 winners courtesy a brace from Sergio Aguero.

Danny Drinkwater has not made an appearance for Chelsea in 13 months in a competitive game.

He signed for Chelsea at the start of last season while Antonio Conte was the Blues manager.

Drinkwater was part of the Leicester City team that stunned the sporting world by winning the 2015/16 season under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri.
