Chelsea Midfielder Pulls Out Of England Squad

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has pulled out of the England squad ahead of the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers with the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Loftus-Cheek will miss out of the Three Lions’ games after he suffered a knock in Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.

The Chelsea midfielder came on as a second-half substitute in the defeat to the Toffees.

England have been hit with three withdrawals ahead of the aforementioned games.

Apart from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Manchester City duo of John Stones and Fabian Delph have also pulled out of the England squad with respective knocks.

Loftus-Cheek, Delph and Stones were all part of the 25-man squad named by England manager Gareth Southgate last week.

The England manager has called up Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse to his team in the wake of the withdrawals.

The England manager has now been trimmed to 23 players as a result of the injury problems.

Ward-Prowse is one of the form players in the Premier League after netting six goals in his last nine games in the competition.

His goals have propelled Southampton to two points clear of the relegation zone in the bid to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
