£61million offer to be made; no bid for winger; Chelsea Coach fears the sack

Premier League Champions Chelsea are prepared to smash the world transfer record for the most expensive defender in the history of football, after Premier League rival Manchester City have already broken the record twice this summer transfer window.

According to The Times, Chelsea will submit a £61 million offer for Juventus defender Alex Sandro as they once again try to bring the Brazil international to Stamford Bridge.

Sandro remains Chelsea’s top transfer target to add depth and competition at the left full back position, having missed out on Danilo and Benjamin Mendy. Whether or not they can lure Juventus to sell Sandro could be a different matter, but they are clearly going to attempt.

Antonio Conte clearly feels that new signings are needed at Stamford Bridge. Discussing his hopes for the upcoming season ahead, Conte appeared to appeal for new players as he revealed his fear of being sacked by Russian Billionaire and owner Roman Abramovich despite the success of last campaign.

It is surely not going to be easy for Chelsea to defend their Premier League title, particularly having lost the likes of long term Captain John Terry and youngster Nathan Ake this summer, with striker Diego Costa and Manchester United bound Nemanja Matic likely to follow. Antonio Conte has made some smart additions in Spaniard Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Antonio Rudiger, but more players are likely to join the London club.
