Ivorian Legend Backs Man City Over Liverpool For PL Title

Ivorian football legend Yaya Toure has backed Premier League champions Manchester City to retain their title at the expense of rivals Liverpool.

In his latest interview via Goal, the former Manchester City midfielder supported his former club’s bid to become only the third team to retain the Premier League (PL) title after city rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Manchester City legend believes that the Citizens have what it takes to fend off the challenge of Liverpool in the keenly contested race to win the Premier League title.

Manchester City secured the Premier League summit ahead of Liverpool on Wednesday night after the easy win over Welsh side Cardiff City who are fighting for survival.

Neil Warnock and his Cardiff City players are fighting to stay in the Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne scored the opening goal of the game as early as the 6th minute before Leroy Sane secured the 2-0 victory with his 44th-minute strike.

The victory over relegation-threatened Cardiff City pushed Manchester City one point clear of Liverpool at the Premier League summit ahead of the final six games of the season.

Liverpool have the chance to fight back in the title race when they face Southampton on Friday night.

A win over the Saints will take them back to the Premier League summit.
