Man United Receives Big Boost To Sign Dries Mertens

Manchester United target and Napoli star player Dries Mertens has made it known recently that he is open to a move to England to play in the premier league.

The Old Trafford club are understood to be keen on signing the talented striker following his impressive performances at the Serie A club.

Mertens scored 34 goals in 45 games last term and he signed a new improved deal at Napoli in the summer.

There is a £25million release clause in his contract, and Napoli director Pierpaolo Marino revealed last month that the red devils had been keeping tabs on the Belgian star.

Napoli start this season impressively in the Serie A and are currently sitting on the top of the Italian top flight table, with Mertens playing a big role in their progress.

And while the player has admitted he is happy at Roma, he also confessed he is ready to move to the premier league anytime he can.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be interested in signing a creative player and is aiming at bringing Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil into Old Trafford when January comes.

The Portuguese tactician missed out on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic during the summer transfer window, but he is expected to utilise the ongoing international break to look over possible targets.
