Liverpool Produced Best Champions League Performance

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stylishly aimed a dig at his former side after claiming that Merseyside giants Liverpool produced the best Champions League performance of the last 16 stage.

Mourinho told Russian media outlet RT that the Reds’ performance against Bayern Munich was the best amongst the Champions League last 16 teams.

The Portuguese tactician believes that the Reds’ performance was better than that of Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho was sacked as the Manchester United manager in December and his replacement, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has done a fabulous job.

Manchester United became the first team to overturn a 2-0 home deficit from the first leg when they defeated French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) 3-1 to advance into the quarterfinals via the away goals rule.

The Red Devils will now face massive favourites Barcelona in the quarterfinals.

Liverpool will face FC Porto at the same quarterfinal stage after they saw off German champions Bayern Munich in their last 16 tie after a goalless draw in the first leg meeting between the two clubs.

Senegalese international player Sadio Mane was the hero for Liverpool after the in-form forward scored twice for the Reds.

Virgil Van Dijk got the other goal for the Reds while an own goal from Joel Matip proved to be the only consolation for the home side.
