Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has been in very good form for the Premier League champions this season and the England international has been backed for the PFA Player of the Year Award ahead of Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Dutch international centre back Van Dijk is said to be the front-runner for the award but Manchester City legend Richard Dunne believes that former Liverpool attacker Sterling is more deserving.

Richard Dunne told BT Sports that Raheem Sterling has been the best player in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling has been a major contributor to the Citizens’ quest to win four trophies this term.

Sterling and Manchester City have already won the Capital One Cup following their penalty shootout win over Chelsea.

In addition, Manchester City have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Champions League after their 10-2 aggregate win over German club Schalke 04.

The Citizens will face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the last four of Europe’s premier competition.

Sterling and Manchester City will take on English Championship club Swansea City in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, while they have a one-point lead over title rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season.

His personal best is 23 goals from last season.
