Liverpool Is Right To Spend £75m On Van Dijk

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has sided with Liverpool following the transfer splurge made to sign Dutch international centre back Virgil Van Dijk.

The Reds paid a world record transfer fee for a defender to sign Virgil Van Dijk from fellow Premier League club Southampton at the start of last season.

The Premier League leaders splashed the sum of £75m on the former Groningen FC of Holland player.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the crucial Premier League meeting with Liverpool on Sunday evening, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino backed the Reds on the Van Dijk transfer.

Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield later this weekend hope to get a win that would move them closer to the target of winning the Premier League for the first time in their history.

On the other hand, North London giants Tottenham Hotspur were in the Premier League title conversation until a recent run of results which saw them lose three league games.

Spurs have picked up just one point from their last four games in the Premier League and that has seen them drop into the battle for Champions League football.

They could be out of the top four if results go against them for Matchweek 32.
