Liverpool To Fend Off Barcelona, City Interest In This Star Player

English Premier League (EPL) side Liverpool are ready to offer their star man Philippe Coutinho a new contract with the club after the former Inter Milan man was linked with Spanish and Copa Del Rey champions Barcelona as well as fellow league side Manchester City.

Brazilian star Coutinho has been in superb form this season having contributed 5 goals and 5 assists in just 13 league games before he succumbed to an ankle problem in his Liverpool side’s 2-0 home win over struggling Sunderland at Anfield last month. His performances have not gone unnoticed prompting the interest from European heavyweights like Barcelona and Manchester City and French champions PSG.

According to the Daily Star, Coutinho, who only signed a contract extension 18 months ago, would be offered £7.8m per year for the new deal to make him the highest paid player in the Liverpool squad.

It remains to be seen whether a new contract extension for Philippe Coutinho would be enough to ward off the previously mentioned European giants in their bid to sign the 24-year old attacking midfielder though Anfield giants Liverpool with manager Jurgen Klopp in charge have made it clear that they want to keep their star player by reportedly handing him a new contract.
