Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has aimed a dig at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola over his recent behaviour in his team’s loss to Wigan on Monday.
Wigan knocks City out
Manchester City were the victims of a major Emirates FA Cup upset as they were beaten 1-0 to Wigan, a League One outfit this week, ending what seemed like a real shot at the quadruple this campaign.
Manchester United have also been at the other end of a major upset this term when they were beaten in the Carabao Cup by Bristol City, though it’s fair to say one boss took loss far worse than another.
Bad looser
The Spaniard was seen arguing with Wigan boss Paul Cook during the match, while his footballers were also involved in a bust-up at the end of the match as supporters invaded the field.
It was all rather unpleasant, and it clearly didn’t escape Jose Mourinho’s attention as he referred to his own team’s dignity in the loss when they were humiliated by Bristol earlier in the campaign.
The Portuguese tactician is known for playing mind games and for using the media as a way to get across his points, so it seems clear he knew what he was aiming at with this deliberate message on behaviour and dignity – saying Manchester United’s response was that of a genuine big side.
