Four reasons why Mo Salah doesn’t deserve the FIFA Puskas Award

Monday night happened to be one of the powerful nights in the world of football as the World football body, FIFA honoured the best world players.

Many had believed it will be a young star that will put an end to the reign of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the world Best in the last 10 years, not many knew it will be an Oldie.

While Croatia international and Real Madrid Midfielder, Luca Modric ended up as the FIFA world best player ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah, who were in the three players nominated for the award.

Many have however been complying with how Egyptian star and Liverpool forward, Mo Salah was able to clinch the FIFA Puskas award.

Perhaps Fifa has forgotten the main reason for the Puskas award – the award is meant to be given to the best goal of the year, therefore we don’t understand how Salah goal deserves the win.

Reasons why Mo Salah goal doesn’t deserve the award,

1. Mo Salah didn’t make it to the FIFA world best XI.

It is surprising to see that a nominee for the best FIFA player and winner of the Puskas Award was not named in the best eleven squad in the world.

2. The goal from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale beat Mo Salah goal hands down, which is quite glaring to all.

3. The goal against Everton that earned Mo Salah the Puskas award is not in the list of his best goals.

4. Salah’s goal that earned him the Puskas award didn’t win the Premier League goal of the month of December, which was won by Jamaine Dafoe.

So it is surprising to see the same goal win the Puskas award.
