Ex-Manchester United Defender Issues Arsenal Warning To Chelsea In Title Race

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is of the opinion that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are the only teams capable of overhauling title leaders Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

Ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night, Conte’s men are still eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal. The Blues will also host Arsene Wenger’s men in their next home game at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur on the other hand are still nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea after the Spurs were 2-0 winners against the pacesetters earlier this month.

Last season, Tottenham finished in third place in the table as they challenged Leicester City for the title throughout the 2015-16 campaign.

Now speaking to The Times about the title race ahead of Chelsea’s clash against struggling Liverpool, Ferdinand stated his opinion on the Premier League title race.

“If Liverpool don’t win, they are out of the title race – though in reality I see Arsenal and Tottenham as the only clubs capable of overhauling Chelsea.

“Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are fighting it out below them. The title race is a matter for London. Fourth place is a battle for the northwest.” he told The Times
