Chelsea forward and Belgium international, Eden Hazard in a recent statement have made it known that Real Madrid midfielder and Croatia international, Luka Modric deserves to win the prestigious footballer award, the Ballon d’Or for this year.
The 27 years old star believes Modric deserves to win the award because of his performance for Croatia during the 2019 world cup in Russia and also his performance at the Spanish club, Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League.
He also added that Modric has an edge of winning the award over all other contenders having won the 2018 Best FIFA’s men player recently.
Luka Modric, 33, is being tipped to end the 10 years duopoly dominance of the award by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have won it 5 times respectively.
Although Eden Hazard is also a contender for the award, he believes Modric deserves it than him, he said ‘I don’t think I am going to win it.’
Apart from Luka Modric, Eden Hazard disclosed there are three to four other players that can win the award, one of which is another Real Madrid player, Raphael Varane.
Eden Hazard is currently training alongside the Belgian national squad as they prepare to take on Switzerland tonight in the Uefa Nations League before taking on the Netherlands in a friendly match.
