Deal On: Real Madrid In Talks To Sign Chelsea Target

Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly in talks to sign highly-rated Lyon defender Ferland Mendy during this summer’s transfer window.

This is according to the publication from popular media outlet Goal which claimed that Real Madrid want to bolster their playing squad on the left side of defence and they have identified Mendy as the man for the job.

Ferland Mendy has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League with clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Lyon are in a good position amidst the negotiation with Real Madrid over one of their prized assets as he still has four years left on his contract.

Real Madrid see Ferland Mendy as the long-term replacement for the aging Marcelo.

The other left-back options at Real Madrid like Theo Hernandez, Reguilon and Achraf Hakimi have not shown that they can be relied upon.

Achraf Hakimi had a very good season while he was on loan at German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and he has already extended his loan deal for another season.

Real Madrid might have to look at other options like Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo if Lyon prove difficult in the chase to sign French international star Ferland Mendy.
