Costly Suspension: Hutter Rues Rebic Absence vs Chelsea

Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter has bemoaned the absence of Croatian World Cup star Ante Rebic for their Europa League clash with Premier League giants Chelsea.

Eintracht Frankfurt played out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at home on Thursday night in what was the first leg of their semifinal tie in the competition and both teams will meet again for the second leg next week Thursday.

Adi Hutter and Frankfurt rued the absence of Ante Rebic for the Chelsea game during his post-match press conference.

According to him, his team had a better chance of a more positive result with Croatian forward Ante Rebic.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists missed the first leg between his team and Chelsea as a result of suspension.

Without him, Eintracht Frankfurt took the lead through Luka Jovic midway into the first half off an assist from fellow Serbian player Felipe Kostic.

Chelsea bounced back on the stroke of the halftime through Pedro Rodriguez who scored a priceless away goal for the Blues after good work from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Both sides meet again next week Thursday to determine who will secure a spot in the Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The 2019 Europa League final will take place on Wednesday, May 29.
