Club Legend Slams Barcelona Links For 26-Year-Old Liverpool Defender

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has blasted the transfer links involving defender Alberto Moreno and Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.

The former Reds defender is at a loss on how Barcelona would want to sign a Liverpool reject.

Steve Nicol talked about Liverpool and Alberto Moreno while he was doing his punditry job on popular media channel ESPN via Goal.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno is expected to leave the club this summer upon the expiration of his contract with the Reds.

The newly crowned European champions confirmed earlier this week that both Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge will leave the club during this summer’s transfer window.

Alberto Moreno has few weeks left on his current deal with the Merseysiders and he has been linked with clubs like fellow Premier League club Arsenal, Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona and French Ligue 1 side Marseille.

The 26-year-old became a Liverpool player in the summer of 2014 after the Reds paid £12m to secure his transfer from Spanish La Liga club Sevilla shortly after winning the Europa League with his boyhood club.

He has played 141 times for Liverpool over a five-year spell at Anfield.
