Chelsea have received a major boost in the pursuit for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu due to his lack of chances which has left him frustrated.
Morata returned to the Spanish capital having left two seasons for Juventus where he impressed hugely with the Serie champions. A host of Premier League clubs were in pursuit of the Spaniard before Real activated their buy-clause to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Reports in Spanish publication, Diario Gol claim that Real president Florentino Perez is furious with the striker and wants to cash in on him. Zinedine Zidane has dropped Morata to the bench, preferring Lucas Vazquez to deputise for Karim Benzema in recent games.
There are reports that Chelsea might move for the Spanish striker if Diego Costa eventually leaves the Stamford Bridge as Blues boss Antonio Conte is said to be a long-term admirer of the striker.
Morata is tied to a long-term contract at the Santiago Bernabeu untill 2021 and has scored 9 goals in all competitions in the La Liga season. Real Madrid are leading the La Liga table ahead of strong rivals, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
