Chelsea have moved ahead of their league rivals in pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie according to reports in Italy.

The Ivorien star has been linked with a move to the Premier League since January transfer window, with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool believed to be competing with Chelsea over his signature next season.

Kessie has been an impressive performer for Atalanta this season, helping them to the fifth spot on the Serie A table, sparking major interest from clubs in Europe and it appears Chelsea have moved ahead of their rivals in the pursuit following reports that the player’s agent has met with the Blues over a potential summer deal.

Reports in Corriere della Sera claims that Kessie might be joining Chelsea after his representatives had a meeting with Chelsea.

Although, there are speculations that Kessie has agreed to move to Roma for a reported fee of around £24million and will join them next summer.

It is understood that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on bringing Kessie to Chelsea due to his box-to-box qualities and will try to beat competitions from other clubs next window. The Ivorien has scored 6 goals in 31 appearances for Atalanta this season.
