Caballero Will Be Given A New Chelsea Contract On One Condition

Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero will reportedly be given a new contract at the club if one condition is met.

According to the publication from the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea will only give the Argentine shot stopper a new contract if their homegrown quota is met.

Ex-England international Rob Green is the third choice goalkeeper at Chelsea and he’s expected to leave the club this summer.

Willy Caballero is the second choice goalkeeper and he will be handed a new contract if Chelsea is able to replace Rob Green with another homegrown talent.

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Caballero has few months left on his Chelsea contract.

He has been praised for his conduct in the Carabao Cup final fiasco involving club manager Maurizio Sarri and first choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Spanish international Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted during the Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City towards the end of extra time with Willy Caballero waiting on the sidelines.

Chelsea fined Kepa for a week’s salary for his conduct before Sarri dropped him from the starting XI for the London Derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

In his absence, Caballero kept a clean sheet as Chelsea defeated Spurs 2-0 at home to boost their top-four hopes.
