Borrowed Time: Liverpool Urged To Sell Fringe Players

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has called on the club to sell its fringe players during this summer’s transfer window.

The former Liverpool defender talked about the Reds and their transfer plans while he was doing his punditry job with the ESPN.

According to him, Liverpool need to get rid of the fringe players as they attempt to bolster their squad for another title challenge.

The Reds missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day of the season.

Manchester City won the league by one point after a devastating and ruthless run of 14 straight wins since the 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Newcastle United in January.

Liverpool have not won a trophy for the last seven years but they have the opportunity to end that in Madrid at the start of next month.

The Reds will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on June 1 and a victory would end a seven-year wait for a major trophy.

A win over Spurs will give the Reds a first major trophy since their League Cup triumph in February 2012.

Recent reports claimed that fringe Liverpool players like Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana are on borrowed time and that they are expected to leave the club this summer.
