Arsenal confirm new addition to executive team

The restructuring for Arsenal continues with the confirmed report of Per Mertesacker as a new member of the executive team.

The North London side have continued the club’s shakeup which started significantly with the exit of former manager Arsene Wenger which is followed by the departure of Ivan Gazidis who left to Italian side AC Milan.

However, Arsenal’s new managing director Vinai Venkatesham stated that the addition of the former player was needful in order to increase the level of football representation at the management level.

He stated that the decision of the club was informed by the need to add a new level of expertise and a new energy in the executive team which will go a long way with the experience of Mertesacker who is not just a former player but a former captain and now a youth team manager.

There are indications that the North London side will add more of its former players to the board as they now look that direction to be able to prove their ambition in having a better result on the field.

However, most significant in the restructuring of the club is the coming of Unai Emery who came to end the 22-year reign of the former French manager.
