Chelsea Winger Closing In On New Two-Year Amidst Barcelona Interest

Chelsea winger Willian is closing in on a new deal that will end speculation about his future with the newly crowned Europa League winners.

This is according to the report from The Sun which claimed that the 30-year-old will sign a new two-year deal to take him till the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Brazilian international winger has one year left on his present deal with the Blues and Chelsea will go back on their 30+ policy to hand him more than a one-year deal.

The West Londoners did the same for his Chelsea teammate David Luiz.

His compatriot would have been a free agent this summer if the centre back had not signed a two-year deal earlier this summer.

Both David Luiz and Willian figured prominently as Chelsea won the Europa League title via a 4-1 win over Arsenal in the final.

Willian has been a long-term target for Spanish champions Barcelona who were unable to lure the winger away from London.

Barcelona offered a swap deal for him in January which proved unsuccessful just like what was obtainable with the other attempts to sign him.

Willian is presently with the Brazilian national team at the 2019 COPA America tournament on home soil.

He was called up as a replacement for the injured Neymar.
