Rohr Explains Mikel Omission From Super Eagles List

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has explained the reason behind the omission of John Mikel Obi from the recently released super eagles’ list for the upcoming games against Seychelles and Egypt.

The former Chelsea midfielder was conspicuously missing from the latest Super Eagles team.

Rohr and his players face Seychelles in an African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 qualifier on the 22ND of March before facing Egypt in an international friendly four days later.

According to the ex-Bayern Munich player, the Super Eagles skipper is just returning from a long-term knee injury and he has asked to be left out of the latest squad.

Franco-German tactician Rohr spoke about the Super Eagles in an interview with the official website of CAF (Confederation of African football).

John Mikel Obi is gradually becoming a legend on Teesside following his impressive outings for Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

The ex-Chelsea star joined Boro as a free agent in January after his contract with Tianjin Teda FC of China expired.

He recently drew high praise from Boro manager Tony Pulis who revealed that the club would like to extend his contract beyond this season.

Mikel Obi was signed to a short-term loan deal at Boro until this summer.
