Rio Ferdinand: This Chelsea Star Is Super-intelligent

Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand said jokingly that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is like a rash after he likened the Chelsea midfielder to France legend Claude Makelele.

Kante is an integral player in Chelsea’s team this season and was one of the blues standout players during their 1-1 draw with rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night as coach Conte’s side edged a step closer to the top-flight crown.

Samba star David Luiz broke the deadlock for the visitors before the Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum levelled-up with a close-range header in the second half at Anfield.

The Stamford Bridge club signed Kante in a deal worth £34m from Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window, after the defensive midfielder played a vital role in Leicester’s success last term.

While speaking to BT Sport after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with the Reds on Tuesday night, Manchester United legend Rio spoke in glowing about Kante’s performance at Anfield.

“I don’t think we thought we would ever seen anyone close to Claude Makelele, but he’s the nearest you’re going to get. Makelele was a super-intelligent footballer,” Ferdinand said.

Conte’s men will host another title rivals Arsenal in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon where the Blues will have the chance to move 12 points clear of Wenger’s team.
