PSG Closing In On £75m Liverpool Target With New Development

French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have won the race to sign in-demand Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt according to the latest development on the race to sign him.

Matthijs De Ligt is widely regarded as the best teenage defender in the world and several clubs have battled to sign him for the better part of the last few months.

According to trusted Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, French champions PSG have won the race to sign De Ligt ahead of other clubs including Spanish champions Barcelona.

The Catalan giants were heavy favourites to land the hugely talented Dutch international centre back but the Spaniards have been beaten to his signing.

It was revealed that the player’s agent Mino Raiola is in the French capital Paris to complete the transfer to PSG who offered a higher salary than Barcelona.

Premier League giants Manchester United were also in the running after making an offer of £75m (transfer fee) and £350,000 (weekly wages) for him but the lack of Champions League football was their greatest undoing.

Newly crowned Champions League winners Liverpool also wanted to sign him but the Reds will miss out to PSG.

Apart from PSG, Manchester United and Liverpool, others like Bayern Munich and Juventus also tried to sign him.
