Arsenal have received a major boost in the pursuit of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley after Tottenham Hotpsur pulled out of the race to sign the midfielder.
Spurs have changed their mind about signing Barkley this summer due to his non-involvement in the national team duties with England, according to reports.
The Everton midfielder has been tipped to leave the Goodison Park this summer after failing to sign another contract with the Toffees with just one year left on his current deal.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs were said to be monitoring transfer situation of the midfielder and were keeping tabs on a potential deal but reports in the Mirror claim that Spurs have pulled out of the deal due to the midfielder’s poor form that has seen him get dropped in the Three Lions set-up.
It is understood that the North London side believes their current number 10, Dele Alli has a better chance of becoming the best player in that position that Barkley who has been inconsistent in his displays.
However, Spurs’ decision leaves Arsenal as the only interested side in Barkley, although there are reports that Arsene Wenger has lined up other options.
Everton are believed to be resigned to the idea of losing Barkley this summer after signing Davy Klassen from Ajax Amsterdam for £23.6million.
