Philippe Coutinho Bid of £138M Reportedly Submitted by Barcelona side On Deadline Day

According to reports, Barcelona have made a last push to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho in the form of a £138 million offer.

The Guardian reported the Blaugrana has tabled a fourth offer for the midfielder.

While the summer transfer deadline for English teams signing players was on Thursday, clubs in the Spanish La Liga have until 12:00 midnight on Friday to sign any new player. It means Brazilian Coutinho could still join Barcelona.

Indeed, the Reds released a statement earlier in the summer saying they would not consider any bids for Coutinho despite Barcelona’s admiring approaches and substantial offer. The Brazilian then handed in a transfer request in a bid to seal his move.

The pursuit of Coutinho has been a desperate one from Barcelona, as they have tried to anew their reputation in the transfer market.

PSG’s decision to pay £200 million to sign Brazil international Neymar was a big blow for Barcelona. Not just because they lost a world-class footballer, but any club Barcelona approached over new signing would have known just how financially Liquid they are.

In Ousmane Dembele, the La Liga side have made a tremendous, signing from Borussia Dortmund. Still, most fans haven’t been impressed with the club’s business in the window.
