Arsenal man snubbed for Europa League trip

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has returned from injury but he was snubbed by manager Unai Emery for the Europa League trip against Sporting CP on Thursday.

Cech has been away due to the injury he sustained against Watford with Bernd Leno taking his place to get a starting role in the past few weeks.

However, with his return, it was expected that the former Chelsea stopper would be handed the opportunity to at least, travel for the game but that did not happen.

It is unclear why the Spanish manager had made such a decision but the words from the treatment room reveal that the Arsenal stopper is back.

However, the former Leverkusen Keeper has had quite a good outing within the course of Cech’s absence and has impressed with his performance and great saves.

Emery will have to take the decision on who becomes the first choice for his side knowing that both can rank in performance but for the experience of the older player.

Suggestions are that Leno might return to the bench when the North London side file out against Crystal Palace on Sunday for the Premier League game with Cech expected to return to the starting XI.
