New UEFA Champions League rule may affect Liverpool if they make it to the quarter final

English football club, Liverpool were close to lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy last season but were held back by Real Madrid, who have now won it three times in a row.

The Reds had managed to make it to the final stage and would have lifted the trophy if not for the injury afflicted on their star player, Mohammed Salah and Goalkeeper, Karius by Sergio Ramos.

Well,  Liverpool made it to the UEFA Champions League tournament this season again but unlike last season things are quite different.

According to the new rules set by UEFA, the quarter-final of the tournament will now be played using VAR (Video Assistants Referees) technology, similar to the one used in the 2018 Russian World Cup.

This means if Liverpool are able to repeat last season stunt and make it to the last 8, they will have to play using the VAR.

According to schedule, the 32 football clubs will be paired in Monaco next week as the tournament will commence soon.

The last time Liverpool made use of the VAR technology was last season during a match against West Brom in the FA, which ended in a 3 – 2 defeat for the Reds.
