The Netherlands vs Belgium: Virgil van Dijk suffers rib injury

The Uefa Nations League is on, however, according to the games schedule, The Netherlands will play against Belgium in a friendly match on Tuesday.

But a new report have made it known that the Netherlands will be playing against Belgium without their ace defender and captain, Virgil van Dijk.

A report from The Dutch Football Association disclosed that the Liverpool ace defender is still suffering from a rib injury he sustained during the EPL game against Southampton at St. Mary stadium on 22 September.

Van Dijk, 27, has been instrumental for his home country so far in the UNL, he scored the first goal against Germany on Saturday, with the game finally ending 3 goals to nothing in favour of the Netherlands.

However, this may affect Van Dijk’s playing chances for the Reds in their next EPL match against Huddersfield.

Coach Jurgen Klopp might decide to rest him since the Reds should be able to defeat Huddersfield without their top defender.

Van Dijk is the second Liverpool key player that will sustain an injury during the ongoing international holiday break.

The first Liverpool player to get injured is Mo Salah during AFCON game against Swaziland

This is one of the reasons Jurgen Klopp tagged the UNL a useless tournament.
