Why Mourinho stopped this player from Champions League appearance

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stopped the appearance of one of his player in Wednesday’s Champions League game against Young Boys in Switzerland

While defending his decision, Mourinho stated that the player will struggle as a result of the plastic pitch that will host the game against the Swiss champions.

Pundits have given the host team, who will be having their debut an edge over their visitors due to the artificial turf at the Stade de Suisse.

During the training on the eve of the game, coach Michael Carrick had asked the players to get a feel for the pitch with balls after the warm-up was over and it was discovered that some of them wouldn’t have been able to play well on it.

Paul Pogba had hinted on his ability to use the pitch well by claiming the plastic pitch was like the one he played on while growing up.

However, United will go into the game without Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Valencia.

This might give an opportunity to highly-rated full-back Diogo Dalot to have his debut en on the sideline with a knee complaint since his summer arrival from Porto.

Mourinho explained that the pitch has stopped Valencia because playing on the artificial pitch will be a problem to his knee.

He said the likes of Luke Shaw will serve as a cover also, in addition to Ashley Young and (Matteo) Darmian.
