Ex-Liverpool Striker Scores Again In France

Former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli continued his fine goalscoring form for Marseille at the weekend in the French top flight after he found the back of the net against his former club.

Balotelli scored the winning goal to lead Marseille to a 1-0 win at home to former club Nice.

The Italian international player has been in superb form for Marseille since he joined the club from Nice during the winter transfer window.

Mario Balotelli has now scored five goals in seven games for French Ligue 1 giants Marseille since his move to the Stade Velodrome in January.

He left Nice in January after falling out with Nice manager Patrick Vieira amidst a poor run of form.

His form has changed for the better at Marseille where he has a short-term contract until the end of this season.

The Italian striker has already talked about the prospect of staying at Marseille beyond this season as he’s enjoying football again at the club.

He could be playing Champions League football for his French club if he stays at the club ahead of next season.

With the help of his lone goal against Nice, Marseille moved to within three points of Lyon in third place in the race for Champions League places.

Only the top three on the French Ligue 1 table will qualify for Champions League next season.
