Klopp Shuts Down Centre Back Signing this January

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shut down suggestions that he should sign a new centre back in the current January transfer window.

The Reds are in a mini-crisis at centre back with several players currently battling with injuries.

The defensive duo of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have been injured since last year though both players are expected to return to action before the end of this month.

Star player Virgil Van Dijk missed the FA Cup third round clash with fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night because of illness and he’s expected to be fit for the next game, an away Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Their last and final senior centre-back Dejan Lovren started the Wolves game and had to go off injured as a result of a hamstring injury.

The Croatian is now expected to miss the next few weeks with the injury.

With these injuries, Several Liverpool fans have called on Klopp to sign a new centre back but the German tactician opted against that while he was speaking in his post-match press conference after the FA Cup clash with Wolves which they lost 2-1 at the Molineux on Monday night.
