Injury setback for Arsenal as Olivier Giroud injures himself as he scores on International duty

France international striker Olivier Giroud sustained a thigh problem while playing for his national team during their 2-0 friendly victory over Wales on Friday night.

As per L’Equipe, the Arsenal striker was seen putting on an ice pack on his thigh after netting France’s second goal of the night against Wales on Friday night. The forward was replaced by club-mate Alexandre Lacazette in the 73rd moment.

The 31-year-old recipient of FIFA Puskas award 2017 apparently sustained the muscular injury during the warm-up but still played his 69th match for France and scored his 29th goal.

French publication L’Equipe stated that the big striker will miss out on his country’s second friendly match of the international break against World Champions Germany on Tuesday evening, which would make a lot of sense. Although, the striker will have to be further examined at the weekend.

Since the striker joined Arsenal back in 2012, he’s spent 133 days on the sidelines in total and about 84 of those were when he broke his foot back in 2014/15 League season.

Although Giroud is yet to make an English Premier League start this League campaign and has only scored three times in all competition, it will be a major blow not to have him fit, at least for the bench.
