Dutch Midfielder Unfazed By Contract Situation At Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is not losing sleep over his contractual situation at the club.

The Dutch international star spoke to the Liverpool Echo about his Liverpool contract as he pointed out that his focus is on his performances on the field rather than off it.

Liverpool have given several players new contracts in the past few weeks but Georginio Wijnaldum is yet to sit down with the club over a contract extension.

Players like Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah have signed new contracts since the start of the season.

Georginio Wijnaldum signed a five-year contract upon joining Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016.

He was unable to prevent Newcastle United from suffering relegation before signing for the Reds three years ago.

Wijnaldum has two years left on his Liverpool contract and that has prompted reports about his long-term future at the club.

The former PSV Eindhoven star has become an integral part of the team since his move to Merseyside.

He has played 27 league games for Liverpool this season as the Reds try to end their 29-year league drought.

Georginio Wijnaldum and Liverpool have a one-point deficit to make up on leaders Manchester City in their quest to achieve their title target.
