Deal Off: Chelsea Target Wants New Napoli Contract

Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has revealed his desire to sign a new deal with the Italian Serie A giants.

The Italian international player signaled his readiness to commit his long-term future with his boyhood club in a chat with Sky Sports Italia thus dispelling transfer rumours linking him with the big Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea.

Insigne spoke to reporters shortly after he scored a 98th-minute penalty to help Napoli to a 2-1 win over Cagliari at home.

The victory over Cagliari was a significant one as he helped Napoli cement second spot on the Italian Serie A table behind recently crowned champions Juventus.

Napoli have a 10 points lead over third-placed Inter Milan with three games left to play this season.

They are also 16 points adrift of Juventus at the top of the table.

Lorenzo Insigne has become a key player for Napoli since he broke through the Napoli Academy in 2010.

Insigne and Napoli have already qualified for the Champions League next season.

The petite attacker has scored 10 goals and also provided six assists in the Italian top flight this season.

In total, Lorenzo Insigne has scored 14 goals in all competitions and his output has been affected by an injury sustained earlier this year.

He returned to action for Napoli in February.
