Premier League holders Manchester City are said to be closing in on a summer swoop for highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
This was revealed via a publication from the stables of popular media outlet Goal which claimed that Manchester City have seen off other Premier League rivals like Manchester United and Chelsea in their quest to sign the Portuguese international midfielder.
Manchester City want to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season and Bruno Fernandes could be one of at least two midfielders added to the playing squad at the Etihad Stadium.
Bruno Fernandes has been in sensational form for Sporting Lisbon this season after scoring 31 goals for the Portuguese Super League giants.
In addition, the Portuguese midfielder has also provided 17 assists in the colours of Sporting Lisbon.
Apart from the 24-year-old, Manchester City are also interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri this summer.
The Citizens are also looking at Benfica sensation Joao Felix who’s widely regarded as the hottest young prospect on the European football scene.
Super agent Jorge Mendes is the representative of young Portuguese attacked Joao Felix and he has already met with Manchester City’s director of football Txiri Begiristain to discuss the possibility of a transfer for his client.
Jorge Mendes is not the agent of Bruno Fernandes but he was invited to broker a deal.
Sporting Lisbon requested €70m for Bruno Fernandes but Manchester City have offered €50m plus two players either on loan or permanently.
