Chelsea Asked To Pay £70m For Diego Costa’s Replacement

Chelsea are set to move for Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement for Diego Costa, according to reports.

Reports in the Daily Telegraph has suggested that Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen on a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata who he considers as a viable replacement for Diego Costa who might leave the Stamford Bridge next summer.

It is understood that Morata wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu due to his lack of chances this season, having rejected a move to the Blues last summer in favour of a return to Real from Juventus.

Latest reports have it that Conte is ready to move for Lukaku but will have to meet Everton’s £70 million valuation of the striker.

However, the Belgian forward has reacted to the speculations and refused to rule out a return to the Blues.
‘I’m just focused on the season. I’m not really thinking anything about it [Chelsea],’ said Lukaku.

‘I’m focused with this team. Whatever you guys write, you guys write.

‘For me I’m not thinking about it.’

Lukaku left Chelsea after failing to cement a place under former boss Jose Mourinho and has gone on to impress since his move to Everton. He has scored 12 goals in 20 Premier League appearances so far this season.
