Mourinho To Add More Power To His Midfield

In the summer transfer window, Manchester United splashed a huge amount of money to bring a superb midfielder in the person of Paul Pogba to the Old Trafford from Juventus .

The Frenchman keeps improving rapidly and Jose Mourinho side still have a handful of options in the midfield. However, the United boss is still looking further to strengthen his central midfield, and two players are in the limelight.

According to the Sun, Mourinho wants to bring Nigerian International John Mikel to United, despite the fact that the Super Eagles captain has not played a single game for Chelsea this season.

Reports also emerged that Jose Mourinho is also considering signing Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater. 29-year old Drinkwater is a flexible player who can effectively play as a central midfielder or a defensive midfielder. However, due to Leicester’s involvements in the Champions League, the chances of Drinkwater leaving the club this winter is slim.

Last season, the England international was in a spectacular form, featuring in 35 league appearances where he scored 3 goals with 8 assists in the campaign that saw Leicester City grabbing the Premier League title.

This season nevertheless, the Leicester boys are presently average in the Premier League. Drinkwater has 19 appearances for Leicester City in all competitions this season, and has only provided just one assist. Therefore, if Mourinho needs his services at Old Trafford, United won’t need spending a fortune on him.
